Project Statement

Stripped-Down Shelters (S*D*S) are part of an on-going project to consider technologically intensive yet minimally spatialized shelters. Mechanisms, prefabricated assembly systems, and transformable componentry are all factors toward a specific and self-contained architectural entity.

SDS.03 : Living Volume (CLOSED) = 18'-2" x 8'-0" x 8'-0" (1152 cubic feet) / / / Living Assembly (OPEN) = 25'-2" x 8'-0" x 11'-0" / / / Leg Assembly = 21'-10" x 10'-8" x 2'-4")

SDS.03 is a living space that is compressed into an elevated body. It features a volume, bathroom/shower module, operable "stoop", photovoltaics and operable roof panels that allow the occupant to open the living volume to the sky and/or define a small semi-enclosed exterior space.
