Project Statement

Stripped-Down Shelters (S*D*S) are part of an on-going project to consider technologically intensive yet minimally spatialized shelters. Mechanisms, prefabricated assembly systems, and transformable componentry are all factors toward a specific and self-contained architectural entity.

SDS.02 : Living Volume = 8'-0" x 13'-6" x 8'-9" (581 cubic feet) / / / Leg Assembly = 7'-0" x 21'-1.5" x 2'-5" / / / Ramp = 11'-2" x 3'-5.5" x 3'2.5")

SDS.02 is a living space that is compressed into an elevated box. It features a bed/sofa, kitchenette, bathroom/shower module, planter, photovoltaics and operable center panels that allow the occupant to open both sides of the shell.
